Judith "Judy" Skiba

Judith "Judy" Skiba, 70, of Fairmont Ave, Amsterdam, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 18, 1943 a daughter of the late Francis and Genevieve Cetnar Koziomkowski. Judy was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and was a 1961 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

She was employed for over 17 years as the Manager of the Amsterdam McDonald's on Market St. She later was employed for a short time at the former Amsterdam Savings Bank and then took a position with HSBC in Amsterdam and was the Manager and Bank Auditor and traveled to many different bank locations in the area. In her younger years, she participated in several sports including women volleyball and softball leagues and, even recently, a women's bocce league. Judy loved spending time with her family and friends in both Amsterdam and her winter home in Naples, FL. She was committed to supporting animal rescue charities.

She married Gerald "Jerry" Skiba on November 26, 1966. In addition to her loving husband Jerry of Amsterdam, survivors include her daughter, Michele Skiba-Williamson and her husband David of New City, NY. Dear sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Price of Oswego, NY, Francine (Rick) Januszewski of Suwanee, GA and Joanie (Joe) Jurczyk of Bozrah, CT. One grandson, Alex Williamson of New City, NY. Brother-in-law, Ron Hanley, brother-in-law, Dan Latza and a sister-in-law, Claudia Kingsley. Several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Judy was predeceased by her beloved son Joseph Skiba who passed away on September 9, 1989. She was also predeceased by her sister, Barbara Hanley and recently her sister-in-law Sharon Latza.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 11:00A.M. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday July 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home.
