Post 701's Gallup tosses no-hitter

Julian Gallup tossed a no-hitter, and the Amsterdam Post 701 Junior American Legion baseball team gave him plenty of help at the plate in a 15-0 pounding of Parkhurst Post 1448.

Logan DeNeuville led the Amsterdam offense with two doubles, a single and four runs batted in. Kyle Agresta added a double and a single with two RBI, while Ben Rhodes laced a two-run single. Bryan Stanavich added a single, drove in a run and scored three times, Brandon Baker singled twice and drove in a run and Brett Flint scored three runs.

Shooting clinic set for July 15-19

Canajoharie boys basketball coach Phil Schoff will host a shooting clinic, dubbed "Schoff's Shot Repair Shop" July 15 through July 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Canajoharie High School.

The clinic is open to boys and girls entering grades 7-12, at a cost of $75 per player or $100 per pair. Registration will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the first day of the camp, and those wishing to register in advance can do so by contacting Schoff at 315-868-9085 or Dan O'Neil at 518-894-8696.

Sumigray leads way in Muni action

T.J. Sumigray shot the low gross score of 33 to lead Tuesday's Men's Day action at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course.

Sumigray finished three shots ahead of runner-up Glen Stopera. Todd Winsman shot 30 to lead the net scoring division, two strokes ahead of both John Wall and Bob MacFarlane, while Bob Roulston's 32 led the senior net division by a stroke over Tony Daiute.

Also at Muni, Kevin Devine recorded an eagle on the 10th hole.
