Sandra J. "Alex" Lech

Sandra J. "Alex" Lech, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 24, 1943 in Amsterdam, New York and was the oldest daughter of the late Marshall J. and Hedy Lech. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute and Mildred-Elley Business School.

For over 40 years, she was employed by the New York State Department of Health in Albany, New York until her retirement.

Sandra is survived by her boyfriend and loving partner of 25 years Michael Heath, Albany; beloved sister Marsha (Edward) Prokop, Broadalbin, New York; brother James (Susan) Lech, Westminster, South Carolina. She was a loving Cioci to her nephew Erik (Lisa) Srokowski, Ballston Spa, New York and a niece Kassie (Alan) Ward, Watkinsville, Georgia and their children; her Uncle John Hughes, Amsterdam, New York and many wonderful cousins and friends also survive.

Sandra, aka "Alex" enjoyed traveling. She attended many NASCAR events, football games and especially enjoyed fantasy football leagues. She enjoyed an annual weekend with her "Lech girl cousins" each year, where many happy memories were enjoyed. She traveled to many states over the years visiting family and friends. She was an avid reader and crafter. She had a generous spirit and a great laugh. She was loved and will be missed by all.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. July 6, 2013 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of NENY, 3 Winners Circle, Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205-1187 for COPD Research.
