Apolonia M. Slezak

Mrs. Apolonia M. Slezak, 94, formerly of McQuade Road, Amsterdam died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Born in Perth, NY on October 5, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Felicia Wilkewicz Dmyszewicz.

A lifelong area resident, Apolonia was a homemaker. She took great pride in her home and in her Catholic faith. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Hagaman.

On October 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Chester Slezak. They were together for nearly 65 years until his passing on May, 21 of this year. She was also predeceased by her sons, James and Thomas; her siblings, Raymond Dmyszewicz, Frances Dmyszewicz, Mary Wall and Victoria Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Marian "Minnie" Spencer; and two grandsons, Erik Peters and Martin Spencer,

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 12 noon at St. Stephen's R.C. Church, Pawling Street, Hagaman.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

A calling period will be held Thursday morning from 10a.m. until 11:30a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA.
