Bernadette J. Draper

Bernadette J. Draper, "Bernie," 65, of Amsterdam passed away peacefully at her home on June 22, 2014. Born in Troy, NY on September 18, 1948, she is the daughter of the late, James J. and Anna Zullo Notro.

Bernie is a graduate of Mechanicville High School and has been a life time resident of the area. She was last employed as a Transportation Coordinator for Kingsway Nursing Home in Schenectady. She is a member of the Polish National Alliance and the American Legion Post 701 in Amsterdam. Bernie always enjoyed having a good time, playing cards and listening to music. She also knew how to play the flute and clarinet. Bernie was known for her selfless and generous nature, always willing to lend a helping hand and always putting others before herself. Bernie also enjoyed a relaxing time at camp in Lake George with her companion James Cross.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Barbara (Chet) Stearns McAdams of Broadalbin, and grandson Andrew L. LaFoy, a son James Christman of West Virginia, brother, William (Lori) Notro, half siblings, David Fox, Michael Fox, James Fox, William Fox, Terri Fox Bills, Angela "Susie" Fox Fehily. Many nieces, nephews and companion James Cross also survive.

She is predeceased by her husband Francis Draper.

At Bernie's request there will be no formal calling hours or funeral, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date that will be announced at that time.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bernie's memory to the American Lung Association, 700 Veteran's Memorial Highway, Hauppauge, NY 12210 or the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
