State police

* James E. McDermott, 42, of Schenectady, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after Fonda troopers stopped him on Riverside Drive in the town of Glen for tinted windows, police said. During an interview, the trooper said he smelled marijuana in the vehicle. McDermott was also issued traffic ticket for tinted windows and an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana. McDermott is to appear in town court June 24.

* Gary W. Laporte, 38, of Amsterdam, was arrested for having an active Gloversville court warrant for second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. Fonda troopers reportedly stopped Laporte June 6 for no license plate lamp in the Lowe's parking lot in the town of Amsterdam. Laporte was transported to Gloversville Police Department for arraignment.
