Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors

A social hour from 10 to 11 a.m. began last week's Tribes Hill Iroquois Senior meeting with refreshments provided by Doris Schafer, Marilyn Hotaling and Ruth Lais.

Vice president Katherine Downing called the meeting to order with 30 members present and one guest.

Martha Hensel led the members in the Lord's Prayer, pledge of allegiance, and a reading, "Blessings to Cherish."

Birthdays and anniversaries were announced again for June. Birthdays: Harriet Zurlo, June13; Adele Lennon, June 19; Barbara Cope, June 20; Emily Sorbero and Ray Emanuele, June 24; and Winnie Wozniak, June 26. Anniversaries are Elaine and Theron Hoyt, June 9; Barbara and Bill Lampkin, June 15, and Cindy and Tracy Edwards, June 20.

There was no secretary's report due to the absence of the secretary. The treasurer reported a checkbook balance which was filed for audit.

One announcement: T Calvary Reformed Church in Hagaman will hold a strawberry shortcake social Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $3.50.

Barbara Furman reported on the OFA meeting held June 11. There are still 150 people on the waiting list for meals on wheels. The OFA will be holding a golf tournament July 27 at 9 a.m. in Canajoharie to benefit the OFA. There is a pulled pork meal this week at the Inman Center. Guest speaker Matt Ossenfort spoke on many county issues followed by a question-and-answer period.

Trip committee -- Pat Schwartz reported that the club's next trip is scheduled for Aug. 14 to Erhardt's Waterfront Banquet Center in Hawley, Pa. More information will follow. Sign-ups will start in July.

Lu Wilmot is taking sign-ups for the Glen Mohawk Seniors to Gettysburg and Lancaster, Pa., Sept. 22-25. The trip includes a two-night stay at the Quality Inn Gettysburg Motor Lodge with dinner at the Dobbin House Tavern. Also included are several historical stops for your dining, shopping, listening and viewing pleasure. On the 24th they head to Lancaster for a one-night stay at the Comfort Suites Amish Country. Price is $500. Interested parties please call Lu at 853-3906 or 774-4872.

Lu also reported that their next trip is scheduled for Monday, Aug.11. It is an indoor country barbecue with a buffet lunch, music and entertainment.

The club raffle winners were Tony Scott and Jeanne Angus.

No sunshine report but cards will be sent to sick members.

The social committee reported a Father's Day luncheon will be held Thursday, June 19. Finger sandwiches along with make-your-own sundaes will be served. Pat Schwartz, Katherine Downing and Cindy Edwards will set up.

There was a reading by Pat Schwartz, "Do you know your Hymns?" and Jeanne Angus told a joke.

The meeting was adjourned with Martha Hensel leading the members in our closing prayer and a thought for the day.

The next meeting will be Thursday, June 19.

Anyone who enjoys overnight and day trips, luncheons and wants to meet new people, make new friends and spend a delightful hour or so of games and camaraderie is invited to join the the group.

The group meets every Thursday with a social hour beginning at 10 a.m. at the Tribes Hill Sacred Heart Church.
