Amsterdam U10 wins pair

The Amsterdam Under 10 travel baseball team posted a doubleheader sweep over North Colonie Bison Gray Sunday at Isabel's Field.

Amsterdam, behind solid pitching from Matthew Murphy and Nic Carbone, won the opener 13-7 and came right back in the nitecap to post an 18-6 win in a game-called after four innings because of the 12-run mercy rule.

In the nitecap, Nicholas Antonelli ripped three singles and Tommy Ziskin belted a double and single to lead Amsterdam. Also, Matt Hughes, Hunter Holman and Ethan Rodriquez had two singles apiece and Michael Rocas, Tyler Williamson, Caydren Gravely, Peyton Ausfeld, Carbone and Murphy each singled.

Rocas and Williamson pitched two innings apiece for Amsterdam.

In the opener, Murphy got the start and struck out seven in four innings of work before Carbone came in for the final two innings to strike out seven. The pair combined for a seven-hitter.

Offensively, Ausfeld and Rocas had three singles apiece, Ziskin and Murphy had two singles and Gravely, Williamson and Antonelli all singled.

Amsterdam travels to Nassau on Sunday for a doubleheader.
