Christian C. "Chris" Sampson

Christian C. "Chris" Sampson, 57, of Midline Road passed away peacefully of a short illness, Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with his loving family at his bedside.

Born November 7, 1956, in Amsterdam, NY. He was the son of the late Cletus E. and Marguerite Shaw Sampson. He was a lifelong resident and attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Chris was employed as a driver for the Yellow Transportation LLC in Amsterdam for over 20 years.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver. He enjoyed going to Fonda Speedway and Glenridge Motor Sports park.

Chris enjoyed a good beer, loved to go with the flow and hang out with family and friends. He loved his kids and grandchildren and he looked forward to family cookouts and gatherings.

Survivors include a son Christian C. Sampson, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Amsterdam; two daughters Diane M. Golla and her husband Mithun of Ellicott City, MD and Christina L. Sampson and her husband David of Perth; a step son George McCumber of Broadalbin and a step daughter Serena McCumber of Amsterdam; a brother Gerald E. Sampson, Sr. and his wife Gloria of Fonda; three grandchildren Landon, Daven and Nicholas; his dear friend Gail Abatecola; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Cynthia Leonard officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Fonda, NY.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
