GLOVERSVILLE

The Friends of the Gloversville Public Library will hold a spring book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free admission. The sale will also include a bake sale, children's books, adult fiction and non-fiction books, cookbooks, holiday books and young adult books. For any questions call 725-9226.

NORTHVILLE

The Sacandaga Garden Club will hold a non-juried flower show at Northville Public Library beginning today and running through June 13. The theme "Broadway Shows" will feature a variety of designs. For more information contact Michael Burnett at 863-6922.

WELLS

Wells United Methodist Church, Route 30, will serve a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu will consist of chicken in gravy on homemade biscuits by Bev Peters, mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots, beverage and home-made pies, cakes and cookies. Cost is $8.50 for adults; $4 or ages 6-12; free for ages under 6. Take-outs and gluten-free options will be available.

The Amsterdam Lions Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Bosco's, 165 Division St. All members are encouraged to attend.

St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 24 Pulaski St., will sell pierogi -- potato with cheese, and cabbage -- from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., fresh or frozen, $8 a dozen.

GLOVERSVILLE

The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after hours event at H&L Insurance Agency, 185 Fifth Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition, the chamber has scheduled a new member orientation at 4:30 p.m. at H&L. Chamber members and their employees are offered free admission to the business after hours and the new member orientation; future member are charged $10 admission. NORTHVILLE

The Red Rooster Cafe will host an old-fashioned ice cream social provided by Shannon Wilder, MVP educator. The program follows the weekly congregate meal, which is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Programs are held Thursdays at the Red Rooster Cafe (Pink Chicken) at the corner of Bridge and Main streets, Northville. Those who wish to enjoy the OFA meal are asked to call Fulton County OFA at 736-5650 to make lunch reservations.

The Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. will host its second annual Flag Day barbecue fund raiser to benefit its programs and services, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Inman Senior Center. This will be take-out only and will be held rain or shine. The dinner will include a pulled pork sandwich, baked potato, cole slaw, and dessert. The cost is $8 per meal.

AMSTERDAM

The John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701, 123 W. Main St., will have a spaghetti and meatball dinner, which will also include salad and bread, from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $7 per dinner; dine in or pick up. No deliveries. All proceeds will go for the Post 701 American Legion baseball team, which travels in nearby areas. Home games are played at Shuttleworth Park.

BROADALBIN

The American Legion Color Guard Post 337 is sponsoring a ham dinner from 5 to 8 p.m at the post. The menu Includes ham, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, apple sauce, tossed salad, roll, dessert, coffee or tea. The cost is $8 for presale adult tickets, or $9 at the door. Children aged five to 10 cost $5. Tickets are available at the post.

FULTONVILLE

The United Methodist Church on Montgomery Street will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

PROVIDENCE

Fish House Fish and Game Club, 478 Fayeville Road, will have a fish fry beginning at 5 p.m., which will include fried fish, cole slaw and french fries. The cost is $9. The Amsterdam Free Library will host Express Yourself: Crab Cups at 10:30 a.m.

Healing Touch Level 3 will take place at the Center for Complementary Therapies, St. Mary's Healthcare, 380 Guy Park Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. This program is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. For workshop registration, information, travel and lodging, call Sister Rita Jean Dubrey at 841-7146.

CRANESVILLE

The Cranesville Women's group is having a homemade strawberry shortcake event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The donation will be $5.

FONDA

Haven of Hope Farm and residence, 19 Cemetery St., will have a Picnic on the Farm fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by The Flying Song Garden. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides and face painting. People will also be able to visit the animals. The Maple Avenue Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting of lot owners at the town of Glen office, 7 Erie St., at 10 a.m. for the purpose of electing three trustees and discussing business.

MAYFIELD

The Mayfield Historical Society will hold its strawberry festival at the Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Road, from noon to 4 p.m. Strawberry shortcake, ice cream and beverages will be served. The festival marks the opening of the Rice Homestead for the season. Music will be provided by Gary VanSlyke along with tours of the home and weaving demonstrations. WEST CHARLTON

The West Charlton United Presbyterian Church, corner of routes 67 and 147, will host a chicken barbecue from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and the meals are take-out only.
