Driscoll Foods to take over the old Quandts site

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - Updated: 4:48 PM

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that Driscoll Foods will establish its second food service distribution facility in Amsterdam; creating nearly 60 new jobs.

According to a press release, the food service distributor will purchase and take over the old Quandts site.

To encourage the expansion project, Empire State Development offered Driscoll Foods a grant of up to $200,000 to assist with the purchase and renovations.

The press release said Driscoll Foods plans to be operational in the Amsterdam facility within weeks.

“This decision by Driscoll Foods to expand their operations into Montgomery County and transform an abandoned facility is bringing new economic energy into the local community,” Cuomo said. “By supporting the company’s efforts to purchase and renovate the former Quandts site in Amsterdam, the State is helping to bring nearly 60 jobs and significant private sector investments to the region. This is another sign that the economy is coming back in Upstate New York, and I am pleased to welcome Driscoll Foods to the region.”
