Erwin (Lenny) Litchfield

Erwin (Lenny) Litchfield, 88, of North Pawling St., Hagaman, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning May 27, 2014 at his home following a brief illness.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 16, 1926 a son of the late Arthur and Dora Harlow Litchfield. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Perth schools. Mr. Litchfield was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Lenny worked for many years at the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a Machinist. He also, when he was younger would help train horses for the Saratoga Race Course at the former Sanford Stud Farms in Amsterdam.

He enjoyed being with his family and playing horseshoes, telling jokes and doing word puzzles and was very fond of animals and pets. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Lenny married Agnes DeZolt Litchfield on November 27, 1948. In addition to his loving wife of almost 66 years he is survived by his four beloved children, Allan(Mary) Litchfield of Midland, Michigan, Jerry (Sheri) Litchfield of Broadalbin, NY, Catherine (Craig) Hashagen of Amsterdam and Sue (Steve) Mack of Amsterdam. Cherished grandchildren, Chris, Amy, Jenny, Jason, Nikki, Jade, Jeremy, Jenna, Emily, Stacy, Tony, Shawn, Rich, Krystal, Kirsten and Kennedy. Twenty six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Lenny was predeceased by his six brothers, Harold, Richard, Ralph, Raymond, Irvin Arthur and four sisters, Goldie, Carrie, Nelli and Rosemond.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Hagaman, NY.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday May 30, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 9 Mile Tree Rd., Gloversville, NY 12078.
