Virginia Herlihy McKeough

Virginia Herlihy McKeough, 87, of Loveland, Ohio and formerly of Amsterdam, New York passed away Saturday morning May 18, 2013 at The Lodge Retirement Community in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born in Glens Falls, New York on September 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leonard J. and Pauline Judd Herlihy.

Virginia was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam and Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA.

Virginia was employed at St. Mary's Hospital & School of Nursing and at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. After her retirement she became a licensed Real Estate Agent with Century 21 and Gaetano Realty. She also worked for many years for the Board of Elections for Montgomery County

Virginia was a former parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. She was a member of Antlers Country Club (Rolling Hills) in Fort Johnson, the Century Club, The Mohawk Valley Heritage and the Woman's Federation.

Her husband Robert C. McKeough to whom she was married on February 28, 1953, passed away on August 15, 1997.

Survivors include one son, Robert "Joe" (Kimberly) McKeough of Auburn, WA; four daughters, Linda T. (Donald) Cook of Naples, FL; Janet M. (Michael) Chapman of Suffield, CT; Carol A. (John ) Mayo of Loveland, OH and Mary K. (Anthony) Bartley of Somers, CT one brother, James L. (Virginia) Herlihy of Goldsboro, NC; ; eleven grandchildren, Lynne Cook (Andrew) Fitzpatrick, Katherine Cook (Matthew), Penny, Robert (Ryan) Chapman, William Chapman, Michael Chapman, Abigail Mayo, Caroline Mayo, Cynthia Mayo, Meagan Bartley, Anthony Bartley and Madison McKeough, one great grandson, Nolan Fitzpatrick and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia was also predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Herlihy Keeler.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts in Virginia's name may be made to St. Mary's Institute, 10 Kopernik Blvd; Amsterdam, NY 12010.
