The Fultonville Reformed Church will hold a fundraiser at the Garden Bug, Fort Hunter Road just west of Amsterdam, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets will be available that evening to participate in this fundraiser. Free refreshments will be served.

GALWAY

The Galway Public Library, 5264 Sacandaga Road., will hold introductory technology classes to help participants get comfortable with their devices. Today's class will be iPad SOS at 5 p.m.

GLOVERSVILLE

A free cancer health screening will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Nathan Littauer Hospital. The Cancer Services Program of Fulton, Montgomery and Schenectady Counties is offering free cancer screenings to men and women ages 50 to 64 who do not have health insurance. Screenings may include mammograms, breast and pelvic exams, pap tests and colorectal cancer screening kits for eligible men and women. Contact Suzanne Hagadorn to register, at 841-3726, option 1.

NORTHVILLE

The Red Rooster Cafe will host Patsy Suydam who will present a program on the Adirondacks. The program follows the weekly congregate meal, which is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Programs are held Thursdays at the Red Rooster Cafe at the corner of Bridge and Main streets, Northville. Those who wish to enjoy the OFA meal are asked to call Fulton County OFA at 736-5650 to make lunch reservations.

New York State Mandated Healthcare Provider Infection Control Training for 2014 will take place at St. Mary's Carondelet Pavilion, 380 Guy Park Ave., from 3 to 4:30. Offered by St. Mary's, this training is required every four years for licensed health professionals. The cost of the program is $20 and must be received at least one week prior to class date. Make checks payable to St. Mary's Healthcare and mail to: Karen Stemmler, c/o Education Department at St. Mary's Healthcare, 427 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam 12010. St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 37 Division St., will serve its community meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The menu includes baked chicken, potatoes, vegetable, rolls and dessert. The meal is free and open to all. Sorry, no take-outs.

FLORIDA

All are welcome to attend the town's Memorial Day ceremony at 7 p.m. at the veterans park, 214 Fort Hunter Road.

AMSTERDAM

The John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 will conduct Memorial Day ceremonies at Green Hill Cemetery beginning at 9:30 a.m. The veterans will begin at the Civil War section and then move to the Spanish-American War section. Both areas are located in the back of the cemetery. All are welcome to attend.

CANAJOHARIE

A community Memorial Day service will be held at 9 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church, 26 Moyer St. The service will conclude at White's Park with the decommissioning of a flag by area scouts.

FONDA

The Fonda Fultonville Memorial Day parade will start in back of the court house in Fonda.

GALWAY

The annual big book sale will take place in the village park, at the corner of Route 147 and East Street, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (friends of the library members only, 8:30 to 9 a.m. If you're not a member, you can join then for $5 and get a free book.) The sale is a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Galway Public Library which raises money for library expenditures that are not included in the general operating budget. More than 1,000 books are offered. DVDs, music CDs, vinyl LPs and VHS videos may also be offered.

ST. JOHNSVILLE

The Tryon County Militia re-enactors will drill and shoot their muskets at Fort Klock from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artisans will demonstrate 18th century crafts. The barn frame loom will be "dressed" for the season by members and weaver friends. There will be a hands-on task that visitors are invited to participate in. The Palatine Settlement Society will celebrate its 18th annual Rhubarb Festival at the 1747 Nellis Tavern, Route 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rhubarb pie baking contest begins at noon with guest judges. Prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m. Lunch items, along with a variety of rhubarb delicacies, will be available. Gary Van Slyke will be the wandering minstrel in the afternoon. Admission is free. The Historic Amsterdam League will sponsor a free tour of the historic Rockton area of the city. The tour is called "In Search of the Lost Ward," and originates from the large pavilion at Shuttleworth Park. The tour buses will leave the park at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Several historic sites in the Rockton area will be visited.
