The Amsterdam Common Council will hold public hearings for three ordinances tonight.
The hearing for the first ordinance is scheduled at 6:20 p.m. The proposed ordinance is an amendment to the city's golf commission to change the appointment system from five members and a nonvoting alderman to seven members and a nonvoting alderman. Commission members would have to be dues-paying members of the course and the recreation department director would be removed from the approval process of purchases related to the course. The council would appoint the alderman lisaion instead of the mayor, and the mayor would only be allowed to make two of the seven appointments
The hearing for the second ordinance is scheduled at 6:30 p.m., and is a request for the placement of stop signs on Locust Avenue at the intersection of Crescent Avenue in both directions.
The third ordinance being discussed tonight at 6:35 p.m. is the request that trucks heavier than 13 tons will be excluded on Northampton Road.
The council will meet with Amsterdam's Industrial Development Agency at 6:00 p.m. and the Transportation Commission at 6:40 p.m.
