AMSTERDAM

There will be a spaghetti supper from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Elk's Club on 4th Avenue. The price of $10 includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or by contacting Ken at 866-9973. Proceeds go to the AHS class of 2014 after-ball event.

AMSTERDAM

The GFWC Century Club will host a "Project Runway -- Pink Style" fashion show/vendor event at the Century Club, 130 Guy Park Ave. Admission is $10 and the show time is 6 to 8:30pm. Fashion show, variety of vendors, music, raffles, bake sale and dance team performances. All admission tickets will be put into a drawing for a flat screen tv and additional tickets may be purchased for $10. Proceeds will go to help stop domestic violence.

CRANESVILLE

The Cranesville Community-wide garage sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maps and food are available at the Cranesville Church Hall.

FORT PLAIN

Fort Plain Senior Center will hold a rummage sale at 204 Canal St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations appreciated. Call 993-3432.

A chicken and ribs barbecue will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., or until sold out, at Conservancy Hall (formerly Glen Church Hall), Route 161, four miles south of Fultonville and 10 miles southwest of Amsterdam.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS

There will be a rummage sale at the Church of Christ Uniting, 22 Church St., from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a bag sale from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

AMSTERDAM

Spring Fling, sponsored by The Recorder, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main and Market streets. Featuring music from 3 of a Kind, 60-plus vendors, bounce houses, mini golf, dunk booth, face painting, Broadway Choppers bike show, Beyond Human magic show, raffles, prizes, food and more.

AMSTERDAM

A Taste of Amsterdam library fundraiser will take place during the Spring Fling at the Amsterdam Free Library at 11 a.m. The library will host local restaurants as they provide bites of tasty treats. Visit with local owners and see what opportunities are available within the city, all while helping the library through a small admission price.

AMSTERDAM

This Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the United Presbyterian Church at 25 Church St. is having a garage sale along with bake sale and craft sale.

AMSTERDAM

The Not Too Far from Home professional stand-up comedy tour makes a stop at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course clubhouse, 158 Upper Van Dyke Ave., with dinner at 6 p.m., and the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person for dinner and show; $50 per couple for dinner and show; $15 per person for show only; $25 per couple for show only.

The AMEN Place Soup Kitchen of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 24 Pine St., will sponsor a chicken barbecue at the church from 1 to 5:30 p.m., or until it's sold out. Eat in or take out. A special drive through will also be offered. Donation is $9 for a half chicken dinner. There will also be a bake sale.

Healing Touch Level 2-16 continuing education contact hours will take place at the Center for Complementary Therapies, St. Mary's Healthcare, 380 Guy Park Ave., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This program is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. AMSTERDAM

A free cancer health screening will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital, 427 Guy Park Ave. The Cancer Services Program of Fulton, Montgomery and Schenectady Counties is offering free cancer screenings to men and women ages 50 to 64 who do not have health insurance. Screenings may include mammograms, breast and pelvic exams, pap tests and colorectal cancer screening kits for eligible men and women. Contact Suzanne Hagadorn to register, at 841-3726, option 1.

BROADALBIN

An American Legion walkathon, sponsored by Broadalbin Post 337, will take place Saturday, May 17, at the Legion pavilion. Registration is at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m. Pledge forms are available at the post, 19 N. Main St. Participants may walk with a dog on a leash. FONDA

A rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets will be held at the Mohawk town barn, 2-4 Park St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Veterinarian administration fee is $10 per rabies vaccine. FORT JOHNSON

It's Bake & Brew Day at Old Fort Johnson National Historic Landmark, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., opening day of the 2014 tourist season. David Manthey and Harvey Alexander from the re-enactment unit 2nd Albany County Militia will demonstrate 18th century beer brewing and baking in a reproduction outdoor bread oven. The village is holding a cleanup day for residents only. All items must be brought to 91 Fort Johnson Ave. (Route 67 west) 7:30 a.m. to noon. Electronic recycling will be accepted today along with the regular household materials.

Mohawk Valley Chorus will present a number of classic standards at its "Director's Choice" pops concert at 7 p.m. at Fulton-Montgomery Community College theater arts complex on Route 67, Johnstown. Tickets are $12 for general admission; $9 for senior citizens and students and will be available at the door or may be purchased in advance from any chorus member. Children, 12 and under, are admitted at no cost when accompanied by an adult.

NORTHVILLE

The Bluz House Rockers band will perform at 7 p.m. at the Northville Central School. The event is sponsored by the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network (SVAN). Admission is $12 (member discount price $10) Children are free when accompanied by an adult.

PROVIDENCE

Providence Volunteer Fire Department, Hagadorn Station, 7171 Fish House Road, will have a "free" garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.

The Red Hill Fish and Game Club will hold its 28th annual youth fishing derby at the Perthshire, Route 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is open to boys and girls ages 4 through 15, accompanied by an adult. There is no entry fee but entrants must bring their own bait and fishing pole. No lures or treble hooks. Refreshments will be provided free of charge.

CHARLESTON

The Charleston Historical Society will host "The Howard Family and Broom Manufacturing in Fort Hunter and Amsterdam, New York," at 2 p.m. The program will feature guest speaker Terri Moran, vice president of the Capital District Genealogical Society. Her husband, Larry, is a descendant of the Howard family of Fort Hunter. She has been researching the Howard genealogy for more than 30 years. The program is free to the public. Refreshments will be provided. The Charleston Historical Society's headquarters is the former First Baptist Church of Charleston, located on Polin Road. For more information call 829-7592.

MAYFIELD

Sew Busy Quilt Guild members will have a spring concert and quilt trunk show featuring Cathy Miller and her husband, accompanist John Bunge, at Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main St., at 3 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 and free for children 10 and younger. Admission will include a tea reception with refreshments in the church hall immediately following performance along with a door prize. A quilt will be raffled to benefit SBQG. SPRAKERS

The Christian Church of Rural Grove, 170 Rural Grove Road, will host a worship service and community meal to celebrate its 160th anniversary. Everyone is welcome to the 10 a.m. worship service, free community meal at noon, and/or the ceremony to dedicate the fellowship hall at 1 p.m. Contact the Rev.
