Diane Marie Montanaro, 48, of Center St. Amsterdam, passed away peacefully May 1, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side following a courageous battle with Cancer.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 21, 1965 she was the only daughter of Rufus Steven and Agnes Mary Matola Montanaro. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1984 Graduate of Amsterdam High School. Diane went on to attend Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Diane has worked in the Insurance field for over 28 years. She was employed at the former Loft Store in the Amsterdam Mall, the Amsterdam Savings Bank, Office For the Aging Northwestern Mutual, Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, John Hancock and most recently SEFCU. She was also a Silpada Sales Representative.

For six years Diane was as Saturday morning Radio Host of the Breakfast Bliss Show on WCSS AM in Amsterdam. She was a v olunteer for many organizations including the WCSS Dodge Ball Tournamnet, The South Side Italian Festa, The Festival of Trees, United Way, St. Baldrick's and the Dr. Michael Sheridan Golf For a Cure Tournament.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Agnes Mary Montanaro of Amsterdam; aunts and uncles, Libby Pantalone, John,Samuel and Frank Montanaro and Rose Smith; her cherished cousins, Meaghan Johnson, Barbara Johnson- Hamm and her husband Bud; several other cousins and many friends also survive.

Diane was predeceased by her father Rufus Steven Montanaro.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and love to Dr. Michael and Debbie Sheridan, Community Hospice, NYOH, Dr. Susan Weaver, Dr. Hafeez Rehman, Dr. Thomas Rapello and Tom and Kathy DiMezza for all they have done during Diane's illness. Additional thanks to all of those who helped contribute to a successful fundraiser in November. Your expressions of care and generosity will never go unnoticed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11 o'clock at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with Rev. Victor Polito as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2 until 4p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home.
