Staff report

BROADALBIN -- Joe Zarecki hit the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots right into the Section II Class B baseball playoffs.

Zarecki's two-out, walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home pinch-runner Logan Ackley with the winning run as the Patriots edged Glens Falls, 3-2, to guarantee B-P a berth in the sectional tournament for the third straight year.

Zarecki finished 2-for-4 at the plate and was the winning pitcher for B-P (8-4, 5-3 Foothills), scattering six hits and striking out four without allowing a walk.

Anthony Payne added a pair of singles for B-P, while Anthony Visco and Noah Martin each drove in runs. Martin was hit by a pitch to start the Patriots' decisive rally. After Ackley came in to run, Luigi Magliocca bunted him over to second -- and reached first himself -- and Glens Falls pitcher Andrew Corlew struck out both A.J. Klemczak and Visco before Zarecki ripped the game-winning hit.

Dylan O'Sick went 2-for-3 with a double for Glens Falls. Pat Burton added a pair of hits and Mike Harrington singled and drove in a run.
