Gordon, Patriots cruise past Galway

GALWAY -- Tim Gordon went 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and Anthony Visco added a pair of hits, drove in a run, stole two bases and scored three runs as the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots scored an 8-3 win over Galway in non-league baseball action Saturday.

Luigi Magliocca singled and scored two runs for B-P, which opened up a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Phil Hemstreet took the win on the mound, scattering four hits and striking out eight over five innings.

Rob Baron went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in for Galway, while Taylor Hartman addd a double.

B-K-W 4

Marcus Failing struck out 10 in 5 1/3 innings of shutout relief and added two singles and a run batted in at the plate as the Hilltoppers erased an early three-run deficit to charge past B-K-W.

Failing entered in the first inning after Jesse Heroth was charged with three runs and kept the Bulldogs off the board through the sixth inning. The senior lefthander improved to 4-0 on the season and has 51 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings of work this season.

Kiernan Briggs laced a two-run triple for Fort Plain (9-0, 9-0 WAC), while Chris Hanifin singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored two runs. Joe Ray added two hits, scored three runs and stole two bases.

Maclin Norray singled twice and drove in two runs for B-K-W, which also got a single and a triple from John Lucas.
