Mayfield can't break through against MCA

SCHENECTADY -- Bobby Gates was strong on the mound for the Mayfield Panthers, striking out seven, but it was not enough, as Gates allowed only four hits, but walked four in a complete game effort in a 6-2 loss to Mekeel Christian Academy in Western Athletic Conference baseball action Friday.

Gates added a single on offense, while Alex Charbonneau had a double and Luke VanNostrand slapped a single for Mayfield. Those were the team's only three hits in the contest.



Fort Plain 3,

Richfield Springs 0

Lady Hilltoppers pitcher Jamie Fredericks tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out five to lead Fort Plain to the victory.

Sirrea Logan had an RBI triple, while Jenna Barhydt and Haley Kilmartin added a pair of singles for the winning club. Abby Boyer and Fredericks each added a single.

LaSalle 9, Amsterdam 0

LaSalle's top seed Jordan Crandall cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Amsterdam Ben Patrick in the Cadets easy win.

LaSalle captured eight of nine matches in straight sets. The closest match of the day happened at fifth singles when LaSalle's Jack McQuade posted a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kyle Farina.
