ALBANY — At their first invitational of the season, the Amsterdam High School boys and girls outdoor track and field teams made strong impressions.

The Rams finished in second place Saturday at the CBA/La Salle Relays at the University at Albany, while the Lady Rams finished in seventh place. AHS junior Izaiah Brown won the day’s 200-meter dash in a meet-record time of 22.36 seconds, while the Rams’ 4x400-meter relay team of Brown, seniors Jared and Julian Gallup, and junior David Graveley won that event in a meet-record time of 3 minutes, 28.40 seconds.

The AHS boys also received a win in the long jump relay. Seniors Lucas Dorr and Julian Gallup, and sophomore Omahri Sturdivant combined for that victory, while Gallup recorded the day’s best jump with a leap of 20 feet, 1.75 inches.

From the Lady Rams, the triple jump relay team of senior Hannah Wollman, and juniors Maddie Janetsky and McKenna Palczak was also a winner. Janetsky recorded the day’s best jump with a mark of 30 feet, 4.5 inches.

Also competing at the invitational were the boys and girls from Broadalbin-Perth. The Patriots finished in seventh place, while the Lady Patriots finished in eighth.

B-P’s Greg Bogdan finished in second place in the 1,600-meter run, one of the day’s two individual events. On the girls’ side, Anna Smith was the event’s top scorer in the shot put relay, leading the Lady Patriots’ entry to a second-place finish in the event.

Saturday’s competition was B-P’s first of the season.

Guilderland won the boys’ competition, while the Bethlehem girls were also team winners.
