Mrs. Romana "Ramona" Stachnik, 104, formerly of Bartlett Street, Amsterdam, New York passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.

She was born January 8, 1910 in Osowka, Poland a daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria Boniecka Majcher. Educated in Poland and locally, Mrs. Stachnik came to Amsterdam in 1921 residing here since that time.

For several years, she was employed as a finisher at Mohawk Carpet Company before retiring.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and its Ladies Rosary Society.

She was married to Steve (Ward) Stachnik on November 25, 1933. He died March 3, 1971.

She was also predeceased by her daughter Beverly who died in 1944 and by her brother John Majcher.

She is survived by four nieces, one nephew; great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces, special friends Dottie and Charlie Brown and Lynette Russo.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church with the Rev. O. Robert De Martinis, Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rosary Society service at 9:45 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 46 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, New York 12010.
