Off-duty Amsterdam police officer chases wanted man by foot

An off-duty Amsterdam police officer chased a wanted Bronx man by foot after he spotted him walking around the South Side of the city.

Around 11 a.m. today, Officer Chris Cuddy said he was driving along Bridge Street when he observed Michael Murray walking along River Street and recognized he was a wanted person.

Cuddy said he notified headquarters about the situation and then pursued Murray by foot. Murray tried to flee the scene heading in the direction of Erie Street toward the land of the Old Chalmers building.

That is when Cuddy detained Murray.

Amsterdam Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff 's Department arrived at the scene minutes later. APD took Murray into custody.

APD Sergeant Tom DiCaprio said he Murray is wanted for animal neglect.
