Vicente "Bamba" Garcia

Vicente "Bamba" Garcia, 80, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at St. Mary's Healthcare.
Born in San Jose de Lajas, Havanna Cuba on Feb. 19, 1933 the only child of the late Vicente and Maria Carmela Gomez Garcia, he emigrated to Spain and later came to Amsterdam in 1974.
He worked for Montco and later for Breton Industries as a pattern cutter before he retired. He was a parishioner of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church and currently St. Mary's.
Vicente loved to play dominoes and visit the Racino and was most happy when he was with his family.
He leaves his beloved wife of fifty years, the former Odelia Echezarreta; son Vincent Garcia and his wife Elizabeth of Amsterdam; daughter Diana and her husband Robert Kelly of Albany; grandsons Andrew Garcia and Maddox Kelly; cousins also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial which will take place Monday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street. Fr. John Medwid, celebrant.
A calling hour will precede the Mass from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the church. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
His family has entrusted his care to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
