Alberta Jane Oakley

Alberta Jane Oakley, 83, of Stewart Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Tuesday morning peacefully at home with her loving family at her side.

She was born on June 19, 1930 to the late James L. and Marguerite Meyers Combes in Amsterdam, NY. where she resided her entire life. She was united in marriage to Donald R. Oakley on May 4, 1963, who survives.

Alberta was the rock of the family and will be greatly missed for all the stability and wisdom she provided. She was an avid reader of history, who loved animals, especially her cats.

Her Christian life began at Baptism in the Lutheran Church and from the age of 5, through Confirmation, marriage, many years as Sunday School teacher, all at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, years of having the pleasure and honor of teaching to a wonderful group of religious classes.

"Special thanks to all of my friends through the years, I loved them all."

There are no services at this time.

Alberta's request is to be buried this spring when the grass is green on the hills of the Chuctanunda Cemetery, Town of Florida.
