Kelly charged with making terroristic threats

An Amsterdam woman was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Tuesday for allegedly threatening to blow up the county Department of Social Services.

Victoria Kelly, 65, of 4 Elk St., was charged with making terroristic threats.

Department Commissioner Michael McMahon said Kelly reportedly made several comments to a case worker to the effect of, "now I know why people blow up these buildings."

"They were subtle comments, but we take those threats seriously," McMahon said. "You can't just say, 'I'm going to bomb social services.'"

Kelly was arraigned in Mohawk town court and released on a ticket.
