Foothills Council President Scott Stuart said today that the athletic league will formally vote on the possible additions of the Greater Amsterdam School District and Schuylerville Central Schools later this week.

"Everything will become officially official on Thursday," he said.

Stuart is the athletic director at the Queensbury Union Free School District.

During the past few weeks, the various districts already in the Foothills Council have each been independently voting on whether to accept GASD and SCS. In late February, both GASD and SCS had already accrued enough positive votes to gain admission into the league, making Thursday's league vote into a formality.

The GASD Board of Education had passed a resolution at its Feb. 19 meeting to authorize the district to seek a move to the Foothills Council. Currently, GASD's team play in the Big 10.

GASD had attempted to leave the Big 10 in 2011, but the Foothills Council rejected the district at that time.
