Norma U. Going, 90, of Evelyn Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Sunday evening at St. Mary's Healthcare in the loving company of her family.

Born in Amsterdam on May 27, 1922, the daughter of the late Howard and Leona Knox Ulcher, she was a 1938 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch high School and lived here her entire life.

She worked for a time at General Electric during World War II, and then left to raise her family. After her children were grown, she returned to GE where she was employed as a small engine builder until she retired.

Norma was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church. She loved to bowl, cook and travel, especially to the beach, enjoying Hawaii and Florida. She lived life to the fullest, ending her day with her beloved "Manhattan" cocktail. She will be truly missed.

Her loving family includes her daughter Peggy (late Walter) Thomas of Fort Johnson, son John (Virginia) Going of Rocky River Ohio; grandchildren Shannon (Merrill) Wojcik, Sean Thomas and Kristin (Christopher) Lonegro; great grandchildren Hunter, Madison, Wyatt, Owen, Chad, Brody, Blaze and Zach; her dear niece whom she thought of as a daughter, Cindy Demitraszek and family, Peter, Charlene, Christina and Matthew.

Her husband Edward Going passed away in 1990, her brother, Albert Ulcher also predeceased her.

Norma's family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Sue Casler with Palliative Care, River Ridge Living Center and Steve with the rehab staff, Dr. Rund, Dr. Goslin and the staff of Hospice for all that they have done.

A service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Golf Course Road. The Rev. Gerald Kauffman, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Norma's name to the United Methodist Church or the St. Labre Indian School both in care of the funeral home office.

Her family has entrusted her care to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
