Helen Dennis

Helen Dennis, 83, of Hillcrest Spring Adult Home died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the River Ridge Living Center.

Born on October 30, 1929 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Pavlick Czelusniak.

Helen was a lifelong Hagaman resident and was a 1947 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

She was employed by St. Mary's Hospital in the Dietary Department until retiring.

Helen was a volunteer at the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and the Wilkinson Facility.

She was an avid bingo player and always enjoyed taking bus trips to the casinos. She was a Polka music fan.

Helen was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman.

Survivors include her loving children, Joseph R. (Millie) Dennis of Port Charlotte, Florida, James F. (Marge) Dennis of Ballston Lake, New York, Donna M. (Harvey) Hemstreet and Kathleen H. (Manny Santos) Roy all of Amsterdam and Patricia A. (Darryl) Hill of Galway; brother, Francis Czelusniak of Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; her aunt, Stella Bandos of all Amsterdam and several nieces and cousins.

Helen was predeceased by her infant daughter, Betsy and brother, Joseph Czelusniak.

Funeral services will be held 8:15 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, Hagaman.

Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Kidney Foundation both in c/o the funeral chapel.
