Fedora Cruz

Mrs. Fedora Estela Henriquez-Cruz, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Edward L. Wilkinson Healthcare Facility, Amsterdam, NY.

She was born April 6, 1924 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She lived in Spanish Harlem, NY, and South Colonie for most of her life. Her life and love were her children and being a homemaker.

Fedora was widowed when her husband Rafael A. Henriquez was killed in the attempt on June 14, 1959, to depose the dictator of the Dominican Republic. After a long widowhood she married Encarnacion Luis Cruz in 1979; he died in 1985.

Fedora is survived by her daughter, Marla Henriquez-Nepaulsingh; her son Robert; grandsons, Jonathan (Falasha), Rafael (Juana), Ian, Robert Jr., and granddaughter Tiffany; great grandchildren: Christephor, Jada, and Nahla; her son-in-law Professor Colbert Nepaulsingh, daughter-in-law Deborah Colon, the Rogers family, Charles, Perdietha, Brianna, and Charles Jr.; and many other beloved family and friends.

A private memorial service and celebration will take place at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Wilkinson Healthcare Facility, First Floor, 4988 Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at the Wilkinson Facility and Hospice for the loving care given to Fedora.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
