Theresa R. Elmy, 95, of Florida Avenue, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the River Ridge Living Center.

Born in Amsterdam August 26, 1917 she was the daughter of Peter and Angeline Bottisti Elmy.

Ms. Elmy attended Amsterdam schools and was a life long Amsterdam resident.

She was employed as a inspector for 17 years with Mohawk Sports Wear retiring in 1982.

Ms. Elmy was a former member of Mount Carmel Seniors a regular participant of Mount Caramel Bingo and a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Elmy and a sister, Mary DiScenza.

She is survived by her two sisters, Virginia Adams of Amsterdam, and Louise Ferro of Powell, Tennessee; one brother Alfred Elmy and his wife Grace of Amsterdam; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Ste. Hwy. 5-S, Amsterdam, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Calling hours are Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Church or St. Judes Children's Hospital in c/o the funeral home office.
