ALBANY -- A pair of local products were recently named captains for the upcoming University at Albany baseball season.

Fonda's Josh Nethaway and Mayfield's D.J. Hoagboon -- both members of the 2012 Amsterdam Mohawks, which won the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League title series --were among the four captains named by head coach Jon Mueller.

Hoagboon hit a team-best .318 for UAlbany this past season. In being named to the All-America East second team as an outfielder, the junior boasted a .398 on-base percentage and collected 10 extra-base hits.

Nethaway, a redshirt junior, was also a member of the conference's second team. The former Fonda-Fultonville Brave hit .313 with 15 extra-base hits, while driving in 30 runs and scoring 27.

UAlbany opens its season Feb. 15 in Cary, N.C. The team's home opener comes March 19 against Marist.
