Margaret C. Rzeszotarski

January 22, 2014

Margaret C. Rzeszotarski, age 86, passed away January 22, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born October 7, 1927, in Amsterdam, New York to Joseph and Victoria Kolodziej. Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Albin J. Rzeszotarski, in Amsterdam, New York after he returned from WWII. He was a POW and was MIA for over six months. The two had a son, Donald Rzeszotarski, who passed away at age 12.

While Albin worked for NASA in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Margaret gave birth to their daughter, Donna. After several moves which included Houston, Texas, the family relocated to San Jose, California where Margaret and Al spent the majority of their life. Margaret took a great interest in all her daughter's activities and always had a major role in any team sport she was involved in - manager, player agent, and scorekeeper to name just a few.

In 2002, Margaret was struck with Guillan-Barre Syndrome, a disease which causes immediate paralysis in its victims for unknown reasons. Margaret was paralyzed from the neck down and had to learn to perform all functions of living again. Through her strength and determination, and the unbounding love of her husband, Margaret made an almost complete recovery.

After 30 years of living in San Jose, Margaret and Albin moved to San Antonio to spend more time with their family, which now included a grandson. Sadly, Albin passed away January 25, 2007. Margaret continued her love for life, and all it had to offer until her passing January 22, 2014. She touched a multitude of lives and will be missed and loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lt. Col. Albin J. Rzeszotarski; son, Donald Rzeszotarski; sister, Lottie Kolodziej; and brother, Joseph Kolodziej. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Donna Martel and husband Mike; and grandson, Tyler Martel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Porter Loring North Chapel.

Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Westover Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support those with Guillain-Barré Syndrome at the GBS/CIDP Foundation International, www.gbs-cidp.org.
