Jean Marie (Eugenia) Rokitowski

Jean Marie (Eugenia) Rokitowski, 87, of Vrooman Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 with her loving sons at her side.

Born on March 8, 1925 in Amsterdam, Jean was the daughter of Edwin and Mary Wojcik Brzezinski.

Jean attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.

Jean was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and it's Ladies Rosary Society. She had also been a volunteer at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home.

She retired from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany.

Jean was predeceased by her devoted husband, Edward Rokitowski who she married on November 3, 1946. He passed away on August 23, 1076.

She is survived by her two loving sons, John "Jack" Rokitowski of Hagaman, NY and Robert Rokitowski and his wife Diane of Newark, NY; two special grandchildren, Jared Rokitowski of Endwell, NY and Janel Downer and her husband Robbie of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her cherished newborn great granddaughter, Riley Ann Downer who was born n Tuesday. Jean was also survived by her sister in law, Agnes Rokit of Amsterdam; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.

Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. The Rosary Society will conduct a service at 4:15 p.m.

In her memory Mrs. Rokitowski's family has requested that Masses be made to St. Stanislaus Church or donations may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps in c/o the funeral chapel.
