Wood's 27 points pace Lady Patriots

BROADALBIN -- Kaitlin Wood turned in a dominant performance with 27 points and 11 rebounds as the Broadalbin-Perth girls basketball team rolled toa 50-31 victory over Mayfield in non-league action Tuesday.

Rachel Orapello added seven points for B-P, while Katie Herba chipped in six points, four steals and four assists.

Nicole Little led Mayfield with nine points on three 3-pointers, while Kylie Manoogian and Alex Sheldon scored eight apiece.

Galway 47, Heatly 13

Amanda Gould outscored Heatly by herself with 14 points, and Galway didn't let Heatly reach double digits until the fourth quarter to cruise to victory.

Tegan Matthews added 10 points and Erica Chase scored eight for the Lady Eagles.

Cayla Heffern led Heatly with seven points.


Schuylerville 54, Broadalbin-Perth 40

Dan Waldron poured in a game-high 24 points as the Black Horses outscored B-P 15-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Shane Lyon added 10 points for Schuylerville.

Chris Natoli led the way with 14 points for the Patriots, who also got 10 points from Preston Taylor and nine from Brent Bochenek.


Ballston Spa JV Tournament

Amsterdam had eight podium finishers, including four champions, in a strong effort over the weekend.

Nelson Quinones (132 pounds), Brian Swank (138), Zack Chapman (145) and Jake Rodecker (152) all took first-place honors for Amsterdam, with Swank topping teammate Justin Gillen in the 138-pound final.

In addition to Gillen, Monty Carmona added a runner-up finish at 120 pounds, Rich Altieri was third at 170 pounds and Cody Haight took fifth at 145 pounds.
