Minch bowls 300 game at Imperial

TOWN OF AMSTERDAM -- Stu Minch bowled a perfect 300 game in the Imperial Men's Senior League to lead Monday's action at Imperial Lanes.

Minch's 300 came in the second game of his 773 triple, which stood as Monday's top series. Tim Grant followed in the Amsterdam Men's City League with a 770 series, while Terry Ray came within a single pin of matching Minch's perfection with a high game of 299.

AHS, F-F freshmen stand out at meet

The Fonda-Fultonville boys indoor track team got victories from Christian VanAvery in the 55-meter hurdles and Ben Vardai-Davidson in the pole vault to tie for second in the team standings and lead a strong local contingent in Sunday's TCITL Frosh Championships.

The Braves finished with 38 points, tied with Sotuh Glens Falls 27 points behind runaway winner Schenectady.

Amsterdam finished in 11th place out of 19 teams led by Omahri Sturdivant, who won the triple jump by more than three feet and added a third-place finish in the long jump.

In the girls' competition, Fonda-Fultonville's Jamie Kasza pulled off a double in the 1,000 meter and 1,500 meter runs, while Alesha Heacock was the runner-up in the triple jump as the Lady Braves finished sixth. Amsterdam was led by Cassandra Robataille, who was crowned champion in the high jump to lead an 11th place finish.
