Roger Henry Jr., (Bitsy), 70, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on January 15, 2013.

Roger was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on December 31, 1942. He was born in LA, but was raised in Amsterdam and lived there until his entrance into the Airforce at the age of 18. He moved back to Amsterdam to care for his parents Dorothy and Roger Henry in 2004. Upon his return back to Amsterdam, he met his school sweetheart Cecilia Hart of Broadalbin where they rekindled their love after almost 60 years after meeting at camp as children.

Roger worked as a radar technician and then instructor in the Airforce and was stationed in LA and then Duluth, MN. After the Airforce he was hired into the Federal Aviation Administration where he worked for the next 40 years in Duluth, MN; Aurora, IL; Bismark, ND; and Chicago, IL before he retired in 2000. Roger enjoyed fishing, working outside in the yard and was a fabulous cook. He was also CASA advocate for several years helping advocate and speak for children who had been removed from their homes and placed into care due to abuse or neglect in the counties surrounding Amsterdam.

Roger is survived by Cecilia Hart his companion and school sweetheart, his daughter Tammy Henry of Bentonville, AR; his son Troy Henry and wife Kris with grandson Jake of Elburn, IL; his son Terry Henry and wife Charla with grandchildren, Ty, Drew and Jessa of DeKalb, IL. His sisters Storm Treanor of Plattsburg, NY; Shelly Zivica (punkin') of Williamsburg, VA; Sandra Zaharoff of Pittsburg, PA; Sharon Pitts of LeCompte, LA; a brother Phillip Henry of Washington, DC; his mother Dorothy Henry of Pittsburg, PA., also surviving is his ex-wife Nancy Henry of DeKalb, IL and other family and friends.

Roger is preceded in death by his father Roger Henry Sr.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to CASA of Amsterdam at CASA of Fulton & Montgomery Counties at 143-145 East Main Street; Amsterdam, NY 12010.

There will be no calling hours our funeral services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY.
