Palatine Bridge airman dies in on-base incident

A 29-year-old airman from Palatine Bridge was killed Monday afternoon at a Florida Air Force base.

A release this morning said Staff Sgt. Emily Elizabeth Clayburn died in an in "industrial area accident" around 4:30 p.m. at the MacDill Air Force Base.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, the release said, and no other details have been released.

Clayburn was a member of the 6th Air Mobility Wing, assigned to the 6th Logistic Readiness Squadron.

"The 6th Air Mobility Wing lost a valued member of our Air Force family, and we are deeply saddened. Staff Sgt. Clayburn will be missed by the entire wing, and all who had the opportunity to serve with her," said Col. Scott DeThomas, 6th Air Mobility Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
