WAC North-leading Cougars cruise past Northville, 54-36

CANAJOHARIE -- Zach Bowerman and Dillan Veeder each scored 12 points, and the Canajoharie High School boys basketball team kept its momentum going heading into Friday's key Western Athletic Conference North Division showdown with Saratoga Catholic by cruising to a 54-36 win Tuesday night over Northville.

Kevin Shannon added nine points for the Cougars (7-2, 5-1 WAC), who opened up a 29-15 lead by halftime and were never challenged down the stretch. Zach Folts added seven points, while Josh Gonzalez and Logan Sala scored five apiece.

With the win, Canajoharie maintained sole possession of first place in the WAC North heading into Friday's home tilt with Spa Catholic. The Cougars won the first matchup between the teams, 67-65 in a Dec. 7 game in Saratoga Springs.

Kalob Russell led Northville with 11 points, Tyler Henderson scored nine and Jason VanNostrand chipped in eight.

Mayfield 48, Fort Plain 47

Dylan Toscano scored the lone field goal in overtime - a 3-pointer to help Mayfield defeat Fort Plain.

Toscano ended with 12 points. Lucas VanNostrand added 11 points and Ryan Hennessy finished with 10 points for the Panthers (4-4, 5-5).

Jake Sardina had 16 points and Marcus Failing contributed with 10 points to lead Fort Plain (4-3, 6-4).

Saratoga Catholic 59, Galway 43

Keegan Murphy scored 12 points and Sean Hart added 10 as the Saints used a 24-7 advantage in the third quarter to cruise past Galway.

Cameron Coons added eight points and Ryan Czarnecki scored seven for Saratoga Catholic.

Dylan Gregory had a team-high nine points for the Golden Eagles, while Andrew Izzo scored eight.

COLONIAL COUNCIL

Ravena 61,

Fonda-Fultonville 51

David Warnken scored 18 points and Desmond Williams added 12 points to lead Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to a win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Ryan Derby and Will Turner each scored 13 points and Zack Nowak finished with 10 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Colonial Council

Ravena 66,

Fonda-Fultonville 52

Kayla Hotaling led the way with 23 points for the Lady Indians, who opened up a 14-point halftime lead before holding off a third quarter charge from Fonda-Fultonville to notch the win.

Hope Rebeor added 18 points in the winning effort.

Emily Parslow scored 21 points and Emily Frollo scored 16 for the Lady Braves, with each player knocking down three 3-pointers.
