There is no better way to ring in the New Year than with a fresh batch of high school basketball player rankings, right?
OK, so that's likely -- hopefully? -- not true. The Committee of Two is guessing that most people did not spend New Year's Eve discussing possible movement in these polls, but that did not stop the deck from shuffling itself up.
While several teams and their players were inactive during the holiday break, most teams were active -- and the biggest winner was Amsterdam Lady Rams freshman Nina Fedullo.
1) Andre Taylor, Broadalbin-Perth (14 points; Last Week No. 1)
Nothing to see here. The Patriots had the break off, so Taylor stays atop this list for the second week in a row.
2) Will Turner, Fonda-Fultonville (12 points; LW No. 2)
Turner and the Braves return to league action Friday night against Lansingburgh in Fonda.
3) Josh Gonzalez, Canajoharie (10 points; LW No. 3)
Gonzalez is coming off of a 10-point effort in a 52-40 loss to Johnstown.
4) TIE: Kory Bergh, Amsterdam (7 points; LW ARV); Dillan Veeder, Canajoharie (7 points; LW No. 4)
Bergh averaged 19 points per game during the Rams' games in Gloversville, while Veeder returns to the court Friday night at Schuylerville.
ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Dylan Klock, Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (4 points; LW No. 4); Marcus Pritchard, Amsterdam (1 point; LW ARV); Aiden VanLoan, Fort Plain (1 point; LW ARV).
1) Abby Boyer, Fort Plain (14 points; LW No. 1)
The Lady Hilltoppers' senior star returns to the court Friday against O-E-SJ after having the holiday break off.
2) Haley Kilmartin, Fort Plain (11 points; LW No. 2)
Surprise! Kilmartin also had the break off. The senior is averaging 16 points per game in her last three outings.
3) Nina Fedullo, Amsterdam (10 points; LW No. 4)
The freshman had a nice showing at the Lady Rams' showcase tournament. Fedullo led AHS to a pair of wins while scoring 39 points.
4) Emily Parslow, F-F (9 points; LW No. 3)
The Lady Braves' junior gets back onto the court Friday at Lansingburgh after a couple weeks off.
5) Erica Chase, Galway (6 points; LW No. 5)
The Lady Eagles' senior led Galway to a tournament championship in Mayfield, scoring 25 points in her team's title victory.
ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Julie Hampton, Mayfield (4 points; LW ARV); Caitlin Gannon, Amsterdam (1 points; LW Unranked); Rylie Smith, O-E-SJ (1 point; LW ARV).
