AFD responds to tractor trailer accident on Thruway

The Amsterdam Fire Department responded to a tractor trailer accident on the Thruway this morning, just before the toll booth of the Amsterdam exit.

City firefighters said the driver had leaked half of the diesel fuel supply it was carrying.

According to a toll booth operator, the driver crashed into the guardrail and attempted to drive away, but got stuck.

She said they had to slow down traffic for a short amount of time, but besides the coned-off area where crews are working, the flow is steady.

Crews appeared to be brushing away debris and around noon were working to hook the tractor trailer up to a tow truck.

More details will be released when they become available.
