Mr. Harry M. Fries, 91, of Hickory Hill Road died suddenly on Monday, June 26, 2017, at his home. Born on Sept. 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry and Martha Fries.
A resident of Montgomery County since 1968, Harry was employed as a salesman for several local companies. Following his retirement, he enjoyed being a handyman and would do most anything for everyone. Harry liked to go fishing and hunting and enjoyed a good debate with his best friend Neil and his great grandson, Ethan. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Harry served proudly in the United States Army, serving during WWII and Korea. He was a member of the VFW Post 942 in Fonda and a past commander of the former VFW Post 510 in Johnstown.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Shelia Roots.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Fries; four children, Kristina Parker of Florida, William Fries of Massachusetts, Beth Archino of Florida, Joanne Palmatier of Worcester, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Adam, Kevin, Jessica, Julie, Thomas, Randy, Samantha, John, Chrystal and Dustin; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY.
