Persis J. Schuttig, 79, of Dania Drive, Hagaman, N.Y., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Nov. 9, 1937, in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of John and Mabel Seufzer. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mrs. Schuttig was employed at General Electric as a secretary and later worked with her husband in their family business, Schuttig Bookkeeping and Tax Service. They were partners in family and business for 57 years. Persis was a member of St. Mary’s Church and served for many years as supervisor of collection counters.
A loving wife and mother, she married her husband George on Oct. 20, 1959. Together, they raised five children, Diane DiCaprio (Tom), Donna Barron (Doug), David Schuttig(Anne), Thomas Schuttig (Karin), and Michael Schuttig.
Survivors in addition to her husband and children are grandchildren, Thomas J. DiCaprio Jr., Stephen DiCaprio (Rebecca), Jennifer DiCaprio (Shelby), Danielle DiCaprio, Timothy Barron, Ryan Schuttig, Brandon Schuttig, Leann Schuttig and Kyler Schuttig; and also, two great-grandchildren, Robin DiCaprio and Sophia Schuttig.
At the request of Persis, there will be no viewing hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church.
