Edward J. Dybas, Sr., 91, of Hagaman, N.Y., passed away with his sons by his side on Oct. 5, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph Dybas and Mary Opalka. He was predeceased by Bernie, his wife of 65 years, and two sisters, Eleanor Toich and Regina Kulczycki. He worked as a carpet weaver, a carpenter, and at General Electric for 20 years as a steam fitter. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, operating heavy equipment and maintaining his property. Ed wrote every day in his journal how much he missed his wife.

He is survived by his loving sons Edward (Lorraine) Dybas and John (Karen) Dybas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ann Sikora and Fran Kashermov.

Calling hours will be on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, N.Y., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hagaman Mills Cemetery, on Pawling Street, Hagaman, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department or Hagaman Mills Cemetery.
