Mr. Albert H. LeCann, 73, of Willow Court, Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Born in Long Island City, N.Y., a son of Herve F. LeCann and Rita Louise Garnier. He grew up and attended school on Long Island.

Albert was employed as a corrections officer for over 26 years at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office in Riverhead Long, Island. In his retirement he and his wife Barbara moved to the Amsterdam, N.Y. area in 2008.

He was a devoted Roman Catholic and was a he was a past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council  No. 1967 in South Hampton, Long Island, N.Y. He enjoyed boating and fishing and spending time with his wife and family.

Mr. LeCann  is survived by his wife Barbara H. Fox LeCann whom he married  on Nov. 30, 1974. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage of almost 43 years. Albert is also survived by one brother, Marcel LeCann of Riverhead, Long Island, N.Y. Two brothers-in-law, Robert (Karen) Fox of Manorville, Long Island, N.Y. and Larry (Chris) Fox of Lanham, Md. His dear friend, Sarah (Michael) Gennett of Amsterdam.  Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St., Hagaman with the Rev. Pascal “Pat” Iannotti presiding. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Hagaman. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
