The Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors began their Aug. 31 meeting at 10 a.m. with a social hour hosted by Allan and Olive Taylor and Joel Szabo

President Meyers called the meeting to order and Chaplain Barb Furman led members in the opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and a reading entitled “Atonement”.

Roll was taken by Chaplain Barb Furman with 41 members plus one guest present.

President Meyers announced the birthdays and anniversaries. Brithdays: Barb Lampkin, Aug. 29; and Lu Wilmot, Sept. 4. Anniversaries: Pam & Bill Jasewicz, Aug. 17.

The minutes were read by Secretary Barbara Minch, from the Aug. 24 meeting and they were approved by Anita Bush and Mildred Hitchcock.

The treasurer’s report was read  and will be filed for audit.

OFA — Barb Furman reported that the senior picnic will be held on Sept. 15 at the Fonda Fairgrounds. Please call the OFA office if you want to purchase a ticket.

Trip Committee — Pat Schwartz reported that the next scheduled trip is on Nov. 16 to Colonie Center with lunch at the Cracker Barrel.

Lu Wilmot is taking sign ups for the trip to see the Friesians of Majesty show on Sept. 12.  The cost for non-members is $45.

Sunshine — Rose sent out a card to Adele Lennon

Social Committee — Pam Jasewicz announced that our fall auction will be held on Sept. 7. Please bring in lightly used items or baked goods for the auction and a sandwich for lunch. It was decided that instead of bringing an item for the food pantry on Sept. 7, items for school children should be brought in such as pens, paper, Kleenex, Elmers glue, gallon size bags, backpacks, pencils etc. and Katherine Downing will bring these items to Fonda School. The installation Banquet is planned for Oct. 19 at noon at the Winners Circle Restaurant in Fonda. A candy sale is planned for Dec. 7 and a Christmas party luncheon is being planned,

The refreshment committee for September will be Tony and Emily Scott and Beverly Fox.

The 50/50 raffle winners were Barb Lampkin and Tony Scott.

Show & Tell  — Elaine Hoyt brought in pictures from her vacation in Alaska. Adele Lennon brought in a book from her 95th birthday party.

Barb Lampkin has a funny reading.
