The Amsterdam Rotary Club held its annual Installation of officers and Citizen of the Year Award dinner on June 21 at the Raindancer Restaurant.  The club recognized Richard (Rick) Vertucci as their 2017 Citizen of the Year. Vertucci has lived by the Rotary motto of Service above Self and has been active in many community events in the past. Most recently he provided Fairview Cemetery with a new flag pole, and he generously donated a monument to the Town of Florida Veteran’s Park. Vertucci has helped with numerous veterans groups including the Honor Flight; he donates free car washes to veterans on Veterans Day; he and his brother were instrumental in donating time and equipment to help build the new field at Shuttleworth Park; and he holds numerous fundraisers for local school and civic groups at his car wash. The club also recognized Anne Boles as their Rotarian of the Year. Boles most recently served as the club president and she has brought her youthful energy and great new idea’s to the club. The gavel was also passed to the new club President Kim Roberts of Patriot bank.
