Sylvia A. "Satas" Re, of Amsterdam passed away peacefully in God's rays of sun in the garden, on Friday, August 17, 2012, with her loving family by her side. She was born in London, England on January 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Frederick & Mabel Bishop Mitchell.
Sylvia moved to Amsterdam in 1945. Previous to that she was a Registered Nurse and worked for the Red Cross during World War II. Once in Amsterdam was employed at the former Mt. Loretto Nursing Home, the former Lamp Nursing Home and St. Mary's Hospital.
Her loving family includes sons, Jeffrey Satas of Seattle, WA and Wayne Satas and his companion Diane of Hagaman. Grand children, Jason Satas, Shana Smith (Chris) and Wayne Satas; beloved great grandchildren Adrianna and Leah Smith also survive.
Sylvia is predeceased by her first husband Benny Satas who died in 1970 and her second husband, Tony Re who passed away in 1985.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday evening from 5 PM until 6 PM at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam NY 12010. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM following the visitation at the funeral home, Fr. Neal Longe officiating.
