Lena Montarello Luciano, 88, formerly of Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. passed away Tuesday morning at the River Ridge Living Center LLC. She had resided at Hillcrest Spring Adult Home prior to the nursing home.
Born in Amsterdam on January 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Concetta Monteleone Montarello. Lena attended the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and until her marriage, was employed by the former Proper Maid Glove Factory. On April 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Michael Luciano, Jr. at St. Michael's Church. Michael passed away on Feb. 14, 2007.
Lena was an active parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel R.C. Church and St. Casimir's Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Columbian Club Auxiliary and an avid bowler.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lena was predeceased by her dear daughter Lorraine DiMezza, sisters Mary Lucarini, Stella Believe, Elizabeth Goldy and a brother George Montarello.
She leaves her granddaughter Lisa DiMezza of Amsterdam as well as nieces and nephews. Lena's family is most grateful to the friends and staff at both Hillcrest Springs and recently River Ridge for their care and compassion.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
A calling period will take place on Saturday prior to the Mass from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lena's name to St. Michael's Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home office.
