Kindar turns 100 years old

Eleanor L. Kindar, a lifelong resident of Amsterdam, turned 100 years old today. For 13 years, she lived at Hill Crest Spring Adult home and recently moved to the Oneida Health Care Nursing Home in Oneida.

Her 100th birthday was celebrated by family and friends in Oneida.

The party was hosted by her nephew, Bill Angell.

Local guests attended from Amsterdam.

Out-of-town guests attended from Vermont, New Jersey, Syracuse, Camden, Corning and Troy.

Eleanor was born on the family farm in Glenville Oct. 25, 1916. She was the youngest of four children.

She is a graduate of Amsterdam High School and the Scotia School of Cosmetology. She was employed in beauty shops in Schenectady and Albany. She was a life-long member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
